Having worked in the corporate world for 12 years, Angela fully understands the stresses that the modern day working lifestyle can cause.
However, she discovered that after receiving a course of Reflexology treatments, many of her symptoms were reduced or disappeared completely and thus began her fascination of alternative therapies, specifically reflexology.
As time passed and her interest into the theory of reflexology increased she made the decision that rather than continue in her stressful career she would train as a Reflexologist in order to help others in the same way that she had been helped herself. This decision led to a year long training course at the The Bayly School of Reflexology' under the tuition of Nicola Hall.
Following a successful completion of this diploma course, Angela set up "Total Tranquillity" through which she has treated many different aged clients from differing backgrounds with an even greater myriad of symptoms.
She has on occasions committed several hours a week to voluntary work with the acutely ill at UCH Hospital London.
Angela doesn't just look to treat the symptoms during a session as many practitioners do, but works closely with the client in order to help identify the underlying causes.
Her calming, caring, friendly and empathic nature makes Angela an ideal holistic practitioner. She operates in a truly professional manner, ensuring that all client details remain 100% confidential at all times.
Angela has also introduced Ayurvedic Massage, Indian Head Massage, On-Site Massage, Hand and Facial Reflexology to her list of specialist treatments. She has found these treatments to be particularly beneficial for easing general stress and muscle fatigue/tension.
She has a true passion for all of these therapies and has been inspired to help others overcome the stresses and strains of modern day living as well as helping alleviate many of the common disorders that clients have simply come to accept as normal.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a form of 'alternative' or 'complementary' therapy involving a method of massage-like treatment to specific reflex areas found in the feet and the hands. Most commonly, the feet are used over the hands. Treatment encourages the body to balance itself and to return to its natural state of equilibrium.
In the feet, there are many reflex areas corresponding to all parts of the body. These areas are arranged in such a way as to form a ‘map’ of the body in the feet with the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left side. By having the whole body represented in the feet, reflexology offers a means of treating the body as a whole. This is an important factor of a natural therapy and allows not only symptoms to be treated but also the causes of symptoms.
This method has been used for several thousands of years and is known to even have been practised in a similar manner by the Chinese and the Egyptians.
It is also important to note that that doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy.
Most people who have experienced treatment would agree that the method can be most beneficial and is also a very relaxing therapy.
Reflexology does not claim to be a 'cure-all' but numerous disorders are often successfully treated through treatment. These include:
Back Pain
Migraines
Infertility
Arthritis
Sleep Disorders
Hormonal Imbalances
Sports Injuries
Circulatory Problems
Digestive Disorders (e.g. IBS)
Tension & Stress Related Conditions
Who Benefits from Reflexology?
As a treatment, reflexology is suitable for all ages and can bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Following the completion of a course of reflexology treatments (usually 6) for a specific condition, many people often continue with regular treatments in order to maintain their new found health and well-being.
Many people also use reflexology simply as a way of relaxing the mind and body and for counteracting stress.
With ever increasing levels of stress through modern day living, it has become more important to take responsibility for our own health care needs. Reflexology is a great way to achieve this as treatment helps one to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level thereby encouraging healing and better health in all areas of our lives.
Each treatment will last approximately one hour. Your first treatment will last slightly longer as a preliminary chat will be required in order to determine your past and present health and lifestyle. This helps to ensure certain reflexes can be given more attention if required.
Wherever you decide to have treatment, you will be made comfortable either in a sitting or lying position with your feet slightly elevated.
But I am Ticklish!!!
This is not a problem!! Although treatment is to bare feet, the pressure applied is quite firm but not uncomfortable. Any areas in which you do feel some brief discomfort indicate an imbalance or some tension in that area of the body. These areas can then be carefully worked so as to help alleviate the problems.
